Narrator I don’t know if anyone is going to hear this but it’s been about nine hours since my disappearance and I have no idea what I’m going to do next... so, I’ve come here to share my story. I live in a small town in England where I attend a private school along with only eight other students in my year.
The disappearances in my town started about twenty years ago, so I’ve been told, the first kid to go missing was a boy named Adam. People say that he somehow got lost in the woods only a few moments after school had been let out, this seemed strange considering the woods in my town was so small and almost impossible to get lost in, however Adam never went home that night. After a four-month investigation his body was never found, although the police did find his school belongings the night that he had gone missing laying on the woodland floor. Even to this day there are still posters of the missing boy dotted around the town in the hope that his family would one day see him again. The following year another boy, similar to Adam’s age mysteriously went missing with no trace, the year after that girl went missing. These disappearances have been occurring until the present day, what is most strange about them is that they only happen on January 10th.
My January 10th started out as being very normal, I work up, showered, got dressed, the usual. I remember sitting in my room just playing on my phone, trying to waste time whilst waiting for my mum to drive me to school.
Mum yells up to James
Mum Dad’s now getting in the car, are you ready?
James yells back
James Yeah just a minute.
Narrator There was a small pause of silence, then my Mum continued to call me.
Mum shouts
Mum James!
Narrator My dad then joined my Mum in calling me down, annoyed I barged out of my room and shouted to them…
James shouts
James I said I’m coming, stop shouting me!
Narrator Still neither of them seems to of heard me, so I got my phones and texted them saying, ‘I said that I’ll be down in a minute stop shouting me!’. My phone then popped up saying ‘message not delivered’, I tried sending the message again but I got the same result ‘message not delivered’. Huh? That was weird considering I had full bars of service. I could still hear both my parents calling my name and eventually my mum came upstairs to my bedroom.
Mum James come on, let’s go…
Small pause of silence
Mum James?
James What?!
Narrator My mum began to look around my room with a worried look on her face.
Mum James, where are you? This isn’t funny.
Narrator She then started to look around in the bathroom as she visibly became more and more worried.
Mum shouts to Dad
Mum Tom I can’t find him! He’s not up here.
Narrator From upstairs I could hear my dad running from room to room searching for me. I could feel myself becoming more annoyed in result of this strange joke they were playing. I went to throw my hand in the air so my Mum would acknowledge me, as I did, I hit a glass of water that was stood on my bedside table, but it didn’t move an inch. I tried to pick it up but it was as if it had been super glued down, so I tried to pick up various other objects in my room but nothing would budge; what the hell was going on?
Suddenly I heard my dad swing open the front door and start calling out for me. I ran down the stairs and straight out the front door, I wanted to know if someone, anyone could hear me. Panicked, I went up and down the street screaming but no one acknowledged my presence… that’s when I saw him, I couldn’t have been? He hadn’t aged a day.
James yells
James Adam?! Adam wait, tell me what’s going on.
Narrator Adam turned and looked at me, but if was if though he was upset to see me.
Adam Hey, I know how strange this all is but I’ll explain everything if you come with me.
Narrator Hesitantly I followed him. He led me to an old looking tree house on the outskirts of our town, where lived all the others kids that had gone missing previous to me. I was shocked; does this mean all these kids hadn’t seen their families in years? Adam assured me that time would start to pass differently the longer I was there. I turned to Adam and showed him my phone.
James What about this? Why can I only pick this up?
Adam You likely had it on your person the moment you disappeared.
James Will it even work?
Adam The kid that went missing before you had her phone on her and it’s been stuff on 75% battery for a year now, she can access the internet and post on certain websites that aren’t directly related to our town or people.
Narrator This gave me a small glimmer of hope. So here I am stuck in this unknown place just inches away from what used to be my old life. It’s been so long since I’ve seen my family and I don’t know what’s going on back home. If anybody out there knows my school or more importantly my parents, tell them I don’t where I am to please never stop searching for me. Especially since the Adam had almost forgot to mention the things that come out at night.
The End.
